What is the Culture of Womanhood? Strength & Responsibility More details from our recent Culture of Womanhood survey.
Does Womanhood have a culture? Yes, of course it does but what defines that culture? According to the Culture of Womanhood Survey and our previous post, womanhood is the freedom to express self as self feels. A woman can be a woman any how she feels as Womanhood is choice and freedom. Two words that also echoed through most responses were Endurance and Strength.
With choice and freedom comes heavy responsibility . One woman defines her experience as "Having the maturity to think, act and make decisions freely and in a manner that nurtures and uplifts others" , another said womanhood is "Keeping things together", while yet another said womanhood is "Being loving, caring and supportive of our families, friends and community." The selfhood of "Being a nurturer able to provide and protect" and other answers like these indicate that women feel a responsibility to support, improve and uplift the people in their environments.
Womanhood as defined by women is a complex and diverse experience and we can't wait to share more of it with you in our next installment of this Culture x co blog series!
As people, we are more alike than we are different but our differences are beautiful too".
